Episode 133 – Parental Discretion Advised

The gang studies for Finals, or plays D&D

Pacey: Dungeon Master, Joey: Elf Ranger, Dawson: Human Mage, Jen: Half Elf Rogue, Jack: Dwarf Battlerager. Sexiest D&D game ever.

Another first for COTW.  This week we rolled up a three-peat, which means we got to choose our episode, and after much off-air deliberation, we chose the Season 2 Finale: Parental Discretion Advised.  This is the episode where Joey’s dad is busted for slingin’ dat rock, and the Ice House burns to the ground.  Jen considers suicide, Joey swears to never forgive Dawson, and Pacey punches his dad in the face.  Pretty dark stuff for a WB teen drama, but we soak it in, and regurgitate greatness for your listening pleasure.  We hope you enjoy it as much as we did.  RIP Ice House, we miss you.

Episode 132 – The Kiss

Pacey & Andie

JJax would have killed CSI: Miami

Dealers Choooooooooooooice.  This week, to our surprise and delight, we rolled up a dealers choice for Josh, and unsurprisingly he chose the season 2 opener, The Kiss.  This ep finds Dawson and Joey reeling from their recent snogging, and it finds Pacey literally crashing into the girl that will change his life (until the other girl changes it even more).  Jen is also here being grieving her departed grandfather, and beginning her season 2 spiral back into Bad Jen.  We also play a very… interesting voicemail.  Fun episode, dig in!

Episode 131 – Full Moon Rising

Abby done got slapped

Mess with the four-time Oscar nominated bull, you get the horn.

Full moons do crazy things.  Crime goes on the rise, hormones rage, podcasts… open their phone lines?  This week we decided to do a normal podcast, but kept our skype lines open, and though we only got 2 calls, I’d say it was a success.  We also watched a fantastic season 2 episode of Dawson’s Creek.  In this ep, the moon is full, and things are getting weird.  Dawson attempts to deal with his parents divorce, but finds Abby Morgan in his bedroom. She is trying to spy on Jen, who is making out with a much much older man on Grams’ kitchen table.  Joey and Jack are stuck with a creepy crusty sailor ghost in the Icehouse, and Pacey meets Andie’s mom who has never been the same since she lost her eldest son.  The rulebook is thrown out the window because… moon gravity?  Something like that, Joey explains it in the beginning.  Don’t think too much about it and just enjoy.

Episode 130 – Separation Anxiety

Grams & Pouty Jen

The most adorable moment ever on TV.

It’s been a long week without our Creek, but we have returned, and rolled up an episode that can only be described as bittersweet.  Separation Anxiety is the episode where the Creek kids, and the viewers for that matter, finally have to come to terms with the fact that Season 4 is ending, High School is ending, and sadly, the great Pacey-Joey romance is ending.  While Pay-Jo takes one last swing at their future together, Dawson is dealing with the impending loss of Gretchen, and Jen is dealing with the impending loss of Grams.  Sadly, only one of the three power couples will weather the storm.  It’s a sad episode that is, in this podcaster’s humble opinion, written very well, leaving the viewer a little bummed, but satisfied that things turned out the way they had to.  Get your tissues ready (for crying, pervs) and strap in.

Episode 129 – None of the Above

Eve seduces Dawson while Spielberg watches

Of the two faces besides Dawson in this screen cap, there’s only one he wants to be looking up at in his bed, and it aint Eve’s.

This week we welcome a special guest to sit in on the episode with us. Sean Faust from the What Does It Matter? Podcast! joins us for Episode 3 of Season 3: None of the Above.  In this borderline sexy ep, Eve steals the answer sheet to the big standardized test everyone is freaking out over, and Dawson is faced with the moral dilemma of using them, giving them to his friends, or ratting out his new hot lady friend.  The plot thickens when a convenient fire drill pulls the Capeside Crew away from the answer sheet, and it goes missing.  In the midst of all this, Pacey and Andie deal with their recent breakup, Jack deals with the stress of organized high school sports, and Joey brushes off the advances of her gross creepy boss.  Meanwhile your hosts bro-out and do their best to not overly objectify the easily-objectifiable Eve.  It was a fun episode to record, and thanks to Sean for sitting in with us!

Also thanks to Sound of Days for our theme.

Episode 128 – Pilot 2: The Piloting

Bessie applies lipstick to her sister.

Do you kiss our mother with that mouth… oh wait. 🙁

Move over Sully Sullenberger, there’s a new OTP in town (One True Pilot) and its name is Dawson’s Creek Episode 1.  You’ve got Joey, the awkward girl from the wrong side of the Creek. Dawson, the awkward boy who likes movies.  Pacey, the ne’er-do-well best friend, and introducing: Jen Lindley, sexpot from the big city come to throw it all into disarray.  This one started it all, and we were lucky enough to roll it for the second time ever.  So grab your stuffed E.T. doll and lets go back to 1998 when this whole crazy mess began.  Back to you, Bob.

Episode 127 – The Graduate

Jen lookin coy AF

Ladies and gentlemen FOUR time Oscar nominee: Michelle Williams.

What do you get when you cross 2 middle aged dudes, alcohol, and the penultimate episode of Dawson’s Creek Season 4?  This podcast episode! The kids are finally Gradyooatin and dealing with their impending adulthood.  Jen & Grams are packing to leave.  Jack is admitting he is in an actual relationship. Joey & Dawson are reconciling and doing that DawJo thing they do, Andie returns to walk the stage with her friends, but Pacey has a problem.  He has one exam left, and his own insecurities are doing everything they can to keep him from passing.  It’s yet another fantastic episode and we enjoy every minute of it.  We hope you do too.

Episode 126 – A Weekend In the Country

You know you really love someone when you can spend all night smelling their sleep-farts.

You know you really love someone when you can spend all night smelling their sleep-farts.

Another week, another classic 3rd season gem.  The Potter B&B is open for business, but nobody is showing up, things start to look desperate enough that Bessie decides to mortgage the house (against Joey’s wishes).  Thankfully, Pacey has the bright idea to invite a reknowned B&B critic (?) to come stay and write a review.  He also arranges for some fake guests to impress the critic, and give us a chance to cram all the major characters into one location for the episode.  What results is some seriously great TV.  The only regular cast member not in this episode is Deputy Doug Witter, which is a shame, but someone has to keep the streets of Capeside safe.  This is a fantastic episode, with one of the best endings in the show, we hope you enjoy us ruining it with our dumb voices.

Episode 125 – Admissions

Pacey & Joey read a letter

Pacey this Melrose Place fanfic is really good, perhaps you do have a future after all!

Guys, the title of this week’s episode is Admissions.  Like… school admissions but also admissions of the truth.  IT’S A DOUBLE MEANING.  So Joey gets into fake-school Worthington while Dawson gets rejected (for some stupid reason) from NYU.  Meanwhile Jack and Jen got accepted to whatever schools they wanted, but they have to go together.  Pacey, well… poor Pacey didn’t even bother to try.  Thus starts our journey.  As it unfurls we realize things may not be as easy for the kids as they appear.   It’s a good episode, with glimpses of what’s to come and, for some characters, glimpses into the past.  Also… Drue’s in it!

Also as a comparison, here is the sweater Gail wore next to the sweater Andie wore on last week’s episode, Barefoot in Capefest:

Andie watches Pacey audition

Episode 124 – Barefoot At Capefest

Andie watches Pacey audition

The worst audition is still better than watching Henry play guitar. Lucky us, we get both.

Welcome back to Creek of the Week, this week is Capefest, some sort of “palooza” where bands play (though we won’t be witnessing then) and people camp out to watch them.  Capeside doesn’t have a McDonalds, but it has a multiple day music festival!  Jack uses the festival as an excuse to stalk Ethan and ditch Jen, meanwhile the rest of the cast doesn’t seem to have a clue it is happening, and goes about their normal lives.  Dawson talks to a fellow film student, Pacey auditions for the play that Andie happens to be the directors assistant for.  No high drama, but lots of fun moments and witty banter make this a solid mid season ep.  Lets do this.
