What can we say about Separate Ways? Not much, unfortunately. It is about as boring an episode as they come, elevated only by the fact that it is the episode in which Charlie finally leaves. He and Joey are in the midst of some fling. His band is offered a touring gig and he wants to toss it away for Ms. Potter. She doesn’t want to be the cause of yet another young man giving up his dreams, so convinces him to leave (with a little help from Audrey). Meanwhile Pacey gets promoted, Audrey gets fired, and Pacey tries to get her her job back. Dawson is also barely in this one, promoting his most recent snorefest of a film to some agent, a meeting which is destroyed by his moronic writer, Oliver. Jack, Jen, and Grams are sorely lacking, as is our enthusiasm for this ep, but we still pony up with the jokes and do our best to break it down. Please accompany us and we’ll get through this together. http://media.blubrry.com/creekoftheweek/p/content.blubrry.com/creekoftheweek/CotW_109-5x20_1.mp3Podcast: Play in new window | DownloadSubscribe:...

This week we get to head to Beantown and watch what many would consider the beginning of the end for Dawson’s Creek. The Bostonians finds our beloved cast out on their own for the first time, far away from Capeside, living in the big city. Except Dawson, who is in LA being a naive man child. Not a lot of strong plot this ep, mainly just setting up season 5 and introducing some new cast members and regulars. The always-annoying Todd makes an appearance to first mentor than berate Dawson. Audrey wows us with the open door policy for boys in her dorm room, a fact which doesn’t wow Joey so much. Jack’s meets his future frat brothers, Jen meets her future heartbreaker, and Pacey… well Pacey is just chilling on the fringes waiting for his moment. It’s a pretty good ep that coasts on the momentum of season 4, and we coast with it while making plenty of tasteless (but topical!) jokes vaginas. We are sorry. http://media.blubrry.com/creekoftheweek/p/content.blubrry.com/creekoftheweek/CotW_108-5x01_1.mp3Podcast: Play in new window | DownloadSubscribe:...

Goodbyes are hard. Saying goodbye to an absolute treasure like Andie McPhee is nearly impossible. Unfortunately, that’s what we have to do this weekend, and we struggle through. After her bad experience rolling on Molly, Andie is offered early graduation and a trip to Italy. Most of the episode is her making her decision while Jen struggles to get back in the gang’s good graces after being the Dr. Feelgood that perscribed the disco biscuits (Thanks Urban Dictionary!). Joey is also facing a conundrum when she is asked to get an essay from the person who knows her best (Hint: It aint her boyfriend Pacey). It’s a sad episode, but a good one, and we walk you through it like Mr. Brooks walking Dawson through the latest Matlock rerun. In the words of Huey Lewis “This is it!” The one and only Dylan Neal was kind enough to grant us an interview, and so we had to watch the episode featuring our favorite of his performances. This is a bit of a long one, first we watch Hurricane, then we interview Mr. Neal for about an hour. Amazingly, he took the time to watch the episode as well and had a few of his own insights and commentary to add about this particular ep, and the show in general. All joking aside, after an hour of sweating it out in anticipation, this was an absolute delight to record and we could not have hoped for a better first guest. We all hope you enjoy this podcast, and please check out Dylan in The Gourmet Detective, airing on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries on October 7. Season 6 may be a minefield and last week we definitely blew our legs off below the knee, but this week we dragged those ragged bloody stumps out of no-man’s land and into the safe haven of the waterlogged trench that is episode 616 (dat analogy tho). This episode finds us following only 3 of the key Capeside players. Dawson returns to Capeside and visits his old film teacher to show those kids what a real filmmaker looks like. Joey and Pacey just had a sexy run-in at the K-Mart and are trying to figure out what to do next (in true Dawson’s Creek fashion they spend the episode apart). Joey babysits some bratty high schoolers and Pacey also has to return to Capeside to visit his sick father in the Hospital. All-in-all it’s a good one! Mr. Gold makes a return and Deputy Doug gets some quality screen time. So enjoy! Next week we fix bayonets and head back over the wall. Round 2 for Ego Tripping at the Gates of Hell and it does not get better. A quick recap, Audrey just got dumped by Pacey and has a gig. Joey is courting Eddie and ignoring everyone else (as per usual). Pacey is having a mid life crisis that he decides to spend in New Orleans, with a lady of the night. Jen wants a date with CJ but isn’t sure of his feelings. And Jack resolves a situation with his professor that we have seen the resolution of several times now but have never seen the beginning. Dawson… is off being Mr. Hollywood somewhere off camera. We’ve seen this one so we use the downtime to endlessly blather about topics large and small. Please accompany us on this journey.
